Zambian hip-hop sensation Alpha Romeo is back with a brand-new single titled “Update”. In this track, the rapper delivers a powerful recap of recent events in the country, touching on key headlines that have sparked nationwide conversations.
Alpha Romeo addresses the disappearance of Jay Jay Banda, the former Petauke Central MP, who went missing after facing aggravated robbery charges. He also highlights the sentencing of Bowman Lusambo, former Lusaka Province Minister, who was handed a four-year prison term with hard labor. Additionally, he weighs in on the ineligibility of Zambia’s former President to contest the 2026 General Elections.
The song also covers the bizarre case of the Chongwe baby who reportedly spoke at just three months old, leaving its mother in shock. Alpha Romeo doesn’t shy away from personal stories either, referencing the much-talked-about breakup between Aunt Milly and Mulwanda along with other dramatic events.
Adding a melodic touch to the track is the exceptionally talented Lanji, who delivers a superb hook. The production, handled by D Jonz, maintains the high-quality sound Alpha Romeo is known for, with D Jonz having produced several of his hits in the past.
Despite not always dropping back-to-back hits, Alpha Romeo’s consistency and impact on Zambian hip-hop remain undeniable. “Update” reinforces his status as one of Zambia’s greatest artists.
